Pro Football Hall Of Fame Updates

Congratulations to Shannon Sharpe who is headed to Canton, Ohio, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2011! Our goal is to get Terrell Davis, Randy Gradishar and Steve Atwater in next. Be sure to check out our YouTube video!

Karl Mecklenburg

Former linebacker Karl Mecklenburg was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 12th round (310th pick overall) out of Minnesota in 1983.

Needless to say, he was a draft day steal for Denver. He played a huge rule in the Broncos Super Bowl runs in the 1980's and his 79.5 sacks is the second highest total in franchise history.

Considered the NFL's most versatile player, Karl played all seven defensive front positions. Bronco coaches wanted him at the point of attack and would move him throughout the game. There were many games where Mecklenburg played all 7 positions in the course of a single game.

A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Mecklenburg was a 3-time first team All Pro and is now a motivational speaker. He is eligible for the Hall of Fame, so it's a wonder to me that a linebacker who averaged over 6.5 sacks a season and went to three Super Bowls with the Orange Crush defense hasn't even been considered a candidate for Canton.
